Gibson Acoustic Guitars

Deciding which is the best acoustic guitar brand can be largely subjective. However, when you consider factors like brand prominence and instrument quality, some of the brands that come to mind are the Taylor, Martin, and Gibson guitars, three notable names in the industry. While you can compare the brands in some general aspects, the generalizations might not apply depending on which models you're comparing.

Taylor Guitars is a guitar manufacturer with factories in the US and Mexico. The guitar band is known to offer a wide range of guitar shapes with many affordable options. Taylor model sales usually start from about $400. The guitars often have a bright and modern tone due to their pronounced treble frequencies. The unique Expression System on Taylor models prevents the pickup from being compressed and allows it to produce a more natural sound. The guitars are usually a little richer around the upper mids.

In terms of comfort, the neck design of Taylor guitars makes it more comfortable to hold barre chords and particular notes when you're playing them quickly. Taylor Swift, Mateus Asato, Damon Albarn, and Chelsea Wolfe are a few of the contemporary players using Taylor guitars at the moment.

Martin is a brand with much history but also with modern touches. They introduced innovations like X bracing, the dreadnought body shape, and a few others to the acoustic guitar industry. Martin majorly makes dreadnoughts, mid-sized and smaller guitars. Most of the guitars have an understated and more traditional look. They're known for their classic sound, and the guitars emphasize the lower mids and bass, producing a fuller and warmer tone that lends itself to almost any musical style.

Martin guitars have been around for a while and were especially popular in the 60s and 70s. Many consider the D-28 Martin guitar, arguably the most popular martin model, the classic acoustic guitar. Pop superstar Ed Sheeran often played Little Martins onstage and went on to collaborate with Martin to create his signature Little Martins. Martin offers guitars at various price ranges, with most models under $1300 manufactured in Mexico and most of those over $1300 manufactured in the USA.

Gibson is one of the oldest guitar manufacturers worldwide. Gibson majorly makes dreadnought and jumbo guitars. The brand has made quality guitars used by various professional musicians for more than 100 years. Gibson guitars are usually dark in color and have an ornate and bold look.

Gibson makes more high-end acoustic guitars made entirely of high-quality woods like rosewood, ebony, maple, and mahogany. They use high-quality electronics and produce full and robust sound. All their acoustics are hand-made at their factory in Montana. Their prices are within the more expensive range, starting from about $1500. Gibson guitars use mahogany back and sides, contributing to a more balanced tone. Gibson guitars tend to sound louder and fuller, so they're a popular choice for strummers.

Gibson is known for pioneering several innovative guitar designs like the Gibson Super Jumbo 200 (SJ-200), which have inspired other brands. Other notable Gibson acoustic models include the Gibson Hummingbird, Gibson J-45, Gibson J-185 EC Modern, and Gibson Dove Original.
