Timothy Hoger is a resident of Neenah, Wisconsin, and has been operating a plastics manufacturing and machining business since being discharged by the Navy. Although he controls an entire operation, Timothy Hoger still finds time to invest in his hobbies and has invented an automatic tonearm for turntables.
There are technically two types of turntables, manual and automatic, but there is also a hybrid that combines the best of both worlds.
A hybrid turntable is not recommended for beginners since the tonearm must be placed manually. If the user has no experience with vinyl, they can easily damage the record by placing the tonearm improperly. An automatic turntable may be the best choice for a beginner.
For experienced users, this type of turntable offers some benefits. Once the user has placed down the tonearm, that is it. Once their selection of music has finished, the tonearm automatically moves up and off of the vinyl. This helps ensure minimal physical contact on the record, as they get worn over time. It also adds the convenience of not having to walk over to the turntable to stop it.
